The word Acrylic is a short for "Methyl Methacrylate".
Its often referred to as "Perspex" which was the
brandname given to it by the company ICI in England, when
they developed it for use in aircraft windows in early 1930's
or Plexiglas as developed by Rohm of Germany also in 30's
ACRYLIC INFORMATION

properties and upto 99.99% optically pure transparency(with
clear glass being 70-80%). Half of the weight of Glass, Acrylic's
physical properties allow it to be machined, heat formed,
chemically bonded with near invisible joins, and thermo formed.
Acrylic is a strong flexible material, which can be applied
to architectural, structural, industrial and decorative uses
in such varied fields as buildings, boats, planes, medical,
chemistry, furniture, cladding and sculptures.
